How to Support the Long-Term Care Profession on Giving Tuesday

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” – Maya Angelou

Take a moment today to look around and appreciate your team, your colleagues, and the community that you serve. And while you are looking, recognize that some of them might not be where they are now if they had not had a little help along the way.

The holiday season is upon us, and Giving Tuesday is just around the corner on Nov. 28, a global day of giving and philanthropy (and the deadline for many important long-term care regulations for Phase 2 – but we won’t talk about that right now!). So you may be wondering, how can I give back to the long-term care community for which I am a part of? What opportunities are available to me to support those working so hard to help all of the residents living in nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities today and in the future? How can I keep long-term care moving forward for those who may be a little stuck financially, but who have big dreams of helping the geriatric population or encouraging future students to embrace long-term care as a profession?

Founded in 2014, AADNS’s philanthropic arm, the Long-Term Care Nursing Education Foundation, positively impacts the lives of the 1.4 million people living in nursing homes by providing educational scholarships and research grants for nurses committed to improving the quality of life and care for LTC residents.

Your support of the LTC Nursing Education Foundation can make a real difference in the lives of long-term care nurses and residents and in the posterity of our profession for years to come.

This year on Giving Tuesday, we ask you to consider giving back to long-term care in one of the following ways through the LTC Nursing Education Foundation:

  • Mail your tax deductible donation to: LTC Nursing Education Foundation, 400 S. Colorado Blvd., Suite 600, Denver, CO 80246.

  • Online donations – Donate online and your generous contribution will be recognized in your AADNS account.

  • Establish a named scholarship - Individuals, companies, and organizations may establish an annual named academic or professional development scholarship. For more information, email

  • Planned giving - Planned giving supports the Foundation through financial and estate plans. For more information, email

  • Volunteer for the Foundation – Learn how you can get involved with the Foundation by emailing

  • Join AADNS as a member, as $1 of every member's annual dues is given directly to the foundation.

Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of so many long-term care nurses who have chosen a life of serving those who need it most. We hope you’ll join us and lead the way in giving back to those who need a little help in order to further their educational goals and continue to give the gift of themselves every day to our residents.
