Survey Prep: Big-Ticket Moves For Long-Term Success

Survey preparation needs to begin well before the survey team walks in the door. Directors of nursing services (DNSs) should have a system of performance excellence in place, says Diane Vaughn, RN, C-DONA/LTC, LNHA, vice president of clinical services for Volunteers of America in Minneapolis. “Performance excellence is a systematic process that identifies the core systems of your clinical operations and designs a systematic approach to attain and sustain excellence in care and services. Survey management is one of those core systems.”
