Question: Is there is an easy way to obtain a list of required federal and state policies? With all of the recent changes, I want to ensure that I am not creating unnecessary policies and that we are in compliance.

Answer: This is a great question. I have created a list of policies mentioned within the State Operations Manual (SOM). (I searched the SOM PDF for the terms "policy" and "policies" and this is the list from those searches.) One challenge is that the SOM mentions that facilities must have resident care policies, which requires a facility leader to look at the type of care delivered and to develop policies based on such (also use the facility assessment). Additionally, there are global topics, such as infection control, that require a number of specific policy requirements; this is also true for abuse/neglect.

I hope this list is helpful.
