AADNS Recertification Programs

Your certifications from AADNS indicate that you are a leader in the post-acute and long-term care field. AADNS helps you remain up-to-date on any changes that may be relevant to you and your staff by offering recertifications for both the DNS-CT and QCP certifications.

DNS-CT Recertification

The DNS-CT certification is valid for two years from your certification completion date. Your credential expires at the end of the month in which you completed your exam requirements. You will have a one-month grace period beyond your certification expiration date to complete the recertification requirements. Certification renewals submitted in the grace period will be automatically subjected to the audit process, described below.

  • Hold a current RN license
  • Hold a current DNS-CT certification
  • Submit a renewal application and pay the renewal fee.
  • Complete at least 50 hours of continuing education within the two years preceding the renewal application submission or complete an approved professional development activity equivalent (see below), or a combination of the two.
  • o At least 25 hours must be related to the DNS-CT domains.
o The remaining 25 hours can be for any healthcare-approved continuing education that meets licensure requirements (for a total of 50 hours).

      QCP Recertification

Recertification is available to individuals who have already earned their QCP certification. To maintain your QCP certification, you must recertify every four years by:

      • Submitting a recertification application
      • Completing and maintaining 100 CE hours
        • All hours must have been earned within the last four years
        • At least 15 hours must be in QAPI or quality improvement areas
        • The remaining 85 hours can be for any healthcare-approved CE that meets licensure requirements (for a total of 100 hours)

If you do not meet the recertification requirements within 30 days after the expiration date of your certification, you will no longer be entitled to use the QCP credential. If you choose to recertify after the 30-day grace period, you will be required to retake and pass the QCP certification exam.
