The American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN) is the parent corporation of AADNS. The Board of Directors for AAPACN is responsible for the strategic leadership needed to grow our Association and to have it meet the needs of our members now and in the future. The best candidates for the Board are members with leadership and strategic planning experience, as well as an awareness of the impact of healthcare policy on the long-term and post-acute care nursing field.
The AAPACN Board Policy Manual describes the Board’s work as follows:
The Board will govern lawfully, observing Policy Governance principles, with an emphasis on (1) outward vision rather than internal preoccupation, (2) encouragement of diversity in viewpoints, (3) strategic leadership more than administrative detail, (4) clear distinction of board and chief executive officer roles, (5) collective rather than individual decisions, (6) future rather than past or present, and (7) proactivity rather reactivity.
